Phi Mu Convention supports Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children from near and far
“To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand”
As the opening statement of the Phi Mu Creed, it is no surprise that members of Phi Mu are dedicated to serving others. As partners of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1986, Phi Mu Fraternity and its collegiate and alumnae members have given their time, talent and charitable support to make a difference for children and families served by children’s hospitals across North America.
When planning for their bi-annual convention scheduled to take place in Orlando this July, they had already started working with Orlando Health to implement an entire day of philanthropy, awareness, and service surrounding pediatric healthcare. However, due to COVID-19, Phi Mu made the decision to cancel their in-person convention and host everything virtually for the safety of their members and staff. And without hesitation, Phi Mu leadership pivoted to a virtual philanthropy experience.
Using videos to raise awareness about Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, and The Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families, part of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer, Phi Mu members were able to “see” inside the walls of our Orlando hospital from the comfort of their home. Additionally, members had the opportunity to shop from a wish list of items that The Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families hosted on Walmart Registry for Good to secure items that this team requires to serve the vulnerable population they work with. Some members went even further, participating in an online campaign to raise vital funding for programs and services that impact the lives of 135,000 children who rely on Orlando Health each year.
The Howard Phillips Center received over 500 items from the registry, and more than $2,000 was raised for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer – all in one day! We are incredibly grateful for Phi Mu and all they do to help Orlando Health Arnold Palmer, and hospitals in communities across the country.
